Dir. Orçun Behram. Turkey, 2019, 115 mins. In Turkish with English subtitles. In a barren, nameless town in Turkey, a new satellite system promises to consolidate and centralize television broadcasts. In one crumbling apartment building, during a satellite antenna installation gone horribly wrong, a shy superintendent (Ihsan Önal) discovers an oozing, black sludge that threatens the tenants. As the situation begins to spin out of control, The Antenna becomes a chilling critique of the transmissions that regularly affect our ability to distinguish between fact and fiction, and a depiction of the way that media manipulation can affect democracy. This horror film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2019 and marks the feature debut of writer-director Orçun Behram. A Dark Star Pictures Release. View trailer.
