Screening & Live Event
Founding Fathers
Introduced by Mark "DJ Wiz" Eastmond, and directors Hassan Pore and Ron Lawrence
Screening followed by Q&A Fab Five Freddy; The Disco Twins; DJ Vernon of King Charles; M. Morton Hall, concert promoter; and DJ Divine of Infinity Machine. Moderated by DJ Wiz.
Digital projection. Though the commonly accepted history of hip-hop culture places its origins with DJ Kool Herc in the Bronx, Hassan Pore and Ron “Amen-Ra” Lawrence’s eye-opening new documentary Founding Fathers expands the scope of the story by looking at influential artists from Queens and Brooklyn, including the Disco Twins, Dance Master, and Grand Master Flowers, whose reputation in popular histories of hip-hop has never matched their importance.
Tickets for Friday evening screenings: $10 ($7.50 for senior citizens and students) and includes admission to the Museum's galleries, which are open until 8:00 p.m.
