With director Ursula Meier and stars Kacey Mottet Klein and Léa Seydous in person
Dir. Ursula Meier. 2012, 100 mins. Digital projection. With Kacey Mottet Klein, Léa Seydoux, Martin Compston, Gillian Anderson. Living with his older sister (Seydoux) in a housing complex below a luxury Swiss ski resort, twelve-year-old Simon (Klein) provides for both of them by stealing equipment from rich tourists and reselling it to the local kids in the valley. When Simon partners with a crooked British seasonal worker, he finds himself in dangerous territory that begins to dramatically affect his relationship with his sister.Beautifully shot by visionary cinematographer Agnes Godard (Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rum), Sister features a leading role for young actor Mottet Klein, heralded by Dennis Lim in The New York Times as one of five "breakout performances" of the fall season, and a "delicate, fully inhabited performance." Her second feature film, following the acclaimed debut Home, Meier’s Sister premiered at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival where it won the first ever Special Award Silver Bear.
