Dir. Dziga Vertov. 1929, 68 mins. New 35mm restoration from the EYE Film Institute. In retrospect, the avant-garde poet Dziga Vertov emerges as one of the most important influences in Soviet Cinema. Vertov moved rapidly from the production of propagandistic newsreels to a full radical aesthetic—the Kino Eye—which found its culmination in his masterpiece Man with a Movie Camera.
