Gene Kelly, the legendary dancer and choreographer, directed this splashy and delightful adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, with Barbra Streisand starring as the meddling Yonkers matchmaker. The program celebrates the 50th anniversary of Louis Armstrong knocking The Beatles off of Billboard’s #1 slot with his recording of “Hello, Dolly.” The film will be preceded by a short presentation of rare footage of Satchmo performances by Ricky Riccardi, Archivist of the Louis Armstrong House Museum. Tickets are $12 and include admission to the Museum of the Moving Image and complimentary museum pass to the Louis Armstrong House Museum. Free for members of either museum.
