Brotherhood of Blades
Part of Fist and Sword
Dir. Lu Yang. 2015, 112 mins. Digital projection. With Chang Chen, Ye Qing, Chin Shih-Chieh, Wang Qianyuan. Set during the Ming dynasty, Brotherhood of Blades tells the story of three imperial assassins tasked with wiping out a former head eunuch who has spearheaded a rebellion movement against the emperor. As the brotherhood begins their hunt, they uncover secrets that send them down a rabbit hole of dark conspiracies and lethal consequences. “A flowing, impressive, and nuanced period actioner packed with terrific fight scenes, Brotherhood of Blades is engagingly complex…certainly one of the best costume Chinese action films for a while” (Screen Daily).
