A powerful narrative of motherly love set in the arid mountainscape of Pakistan, Dukhtar was selected as Pakistan’s official entry for the 2015 Academy Awards. As her ten-year-old daughter is to be married to a tribal leader, a mother defies authority and attempts to save her child from a lifetime of misery and submission.
