SPECIAL SCREENING & LIVE EVENT
The House of Hate: World premiere of new digital restoration
Introduced by Richard Koszarski
Presented with live music by Makia Matsumura
Dir. George B. Seitz, 1918, 180 mins. With Pearl White, Antonio Moreno. Presented with one intermission. Though Pearl White was best known as the star of The Perils of Pauline, her best “cliffhanger” serial, The House of Hate, has long been considered lost and has remained unseen in the U.S. for almost a century. Why that happened, and where the film has been hiding all these years, is a mystery almost as complicated as the true identity of The Hooded Terror. Rutgers University Professor Richard Koszarski will introduce the world premiere of a reconstruction of the legendary serial that Sergei Eisenstein compared to the best work of Griffith and Fairbanks.
Tickets: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for members at the Film Lover level and above). Order tickets online. (Members may also email [email protected])
