PREVIEW SCREENING & LIVE EVENT
Archie's Betty
With director Gerald Peary in person
Dir. Gerald Peary. 2015, 69 mins. Digital projection. Were Archie, Betty, Veronica, Moose, and Jughead based on actual people? Filmmaker and devoted Archie fan Gerald Peary searches for the real people behind the characters in the ever-popular Archie comics. The documentary visits Archie cartoonist Bob Montana’s surviving high-school classmates from Haverhill, Massachusetts, a veteran Archie illustrator, and Archie experts to determine the real story, which culminates at a senior living facility in Edison, New Jersey. Might a 91-year-old woman living there be the inspiration for one of Archie’s immortal characters?
