Shot entirely on location in New York, Scorsese’s trenchant satire about fandom and the pursuit of fame features Robert De Niro as Rupert Pupkin, a delusional aspiring comic who enlists an overzealous fan in his deranged scheme to kidnap a talk-show host, played by Jerry Lewis.
