Screening
The Brave One

Part of Dalton Trumbo
Saturday, November 21, 2015, 2:00 p.m.

Dir. Irving Rapper. 1956, 100 mins. DCP. With Michael Ray, Rodolfo Hoyos, Jr. This gripping story of a young Mexican boy trying to save his beloved pet bull from sure death in the bullfighting ring features one of Dalton Trumbo’s leanest and most gripping screenplays. He won the Academy Award for it under a pseudonym. With its sympathetic portrayal of its Mexican characters, the film was an enormous hit in that country.
