With director Marshall Curry in person
Dir. Marshall Curry. 2005, 83 mins. Digital projection. Detailing the hard-fought mayoral campaign of young community activist and City Council member Corey Booker against sixteen-year incumbent mayor Sharpe James, Curry’s breathless observational documentary follows Booker and several of his campaign workers from their early days of door-knocking on Newark streets to the election’s dramatic conclusion, illustrating throughout the difficulties of playing the challenger to a powerful political machine.
