Dir. Richard W. Haines, Lloyd Kaufman (as Samuel Weil). 1986, 85 mins. 35mm. With Janelle Brady, Gil Brenton, Robert Prichard. The cult classic that launched a low-rent franchise is set at Tromaville High School, a stone’s throw from the local nuclear power plant. The students are getting brighter; in fact, they are developing a green glow. The student body is mutating into a menagerie of sex-crazed psychos, the Honor Society has turned into carnivorous cretins, and the slimy monster stalking the hallways is not the principal! When released by Troma in 1986, Class of Nuke Em High became a mini-sensation, with its unique blend of horror, humor, and hand-made special effects.
