Screening & Live Event
Yesterday and Tomorrow in Detroit
Saturday, February 10, 2018, 5:00 p.m.
Museum of the Moving Image - Redstone Theater
Presented by Rick Prelinger
(Compiled in 2015, 72 mins. HD digital.) Yesterday and Tomorrow in Detroit, the fifth iteration of Rick Prelinger’s “Lost Landscapes” project on the Motor City, meditates on the past and future of Detroit and its many communities. Combining home movies, newsreels, industrial films, and miscellaneous footage showing Detroit’s urban fabric, its residents, their work and leisure, and their celebrations, this “city-symphony”-like film pictures the Motor City's white and African American communities during periods of boom and bust. Audience members are invited to speak during the screening—to identify people, places and events, to ask questions, and to join one another in contemplating and commenting on America’s great industrial city.
Tickets: $15 ($11 seniors and students / $7 youth (ages 3–17) / free for children under 3 and Museum members at the Film Lover and Kids Premium levels and above). Order tickets online. (Members may contact [email protected] with questions regarding online reservations.)
Ticket purchase includes same-day admission to the Museum (see gallery hours). View the Museum’s ticketing policy here. For more information on membership and to join online, visit our membership page.
