IndieCade East is the Museum’s annual celebration of independent games and the people who make and play them. The exciting weekend features dozens of new and unreleased games, a packed schedule of talks, panels, and workshops by designers, developers, players, organizers, thinkers, activists, historians, critics, and provocateurs. IndieCade is the country’s premier Festival for independent video games, dedicated to the discovery, development, and recognition of independent designers and developers from around the world.

Friday Pass (access to IndieCade East programs, February 16):
$45 ($35 students and seniors with valid ID, Museum members at the Film Lover and MoMI Kids Premium levels and above). NEW: $20 day pass for youth (under age 17). Order online.

Exhibition: IndieCade Presents: A Decade of Game Design
Featuring Anna Anthropy, Tracy Fullerton, Copenhagen Game Collective, David Kanaga, Paolo Pedercini, Nonny de la Pena, Jason Rohrer, and Tale of Tales, this exhibition explores how games grew into a bona fide artistic and expressive medium in the past decade.

Exhibition Tour: A Decade of Game Design with Festival Director Sam Roberts
Exhibition co-curator Sam Roberts leads a tour, stopping at each featured exhibit, and commenting on the arc of that developer’s work and its significance to the larger arc of games as an artistic medium.

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Discussion: Decade in Design with Celia Pearce
Festival Chair Celia Pearce leads a discussion about the meaning and impact of the featured developers and work in the exhibition A Decade of Game Design.

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Play Metagame!
Come play indie darling party game, The Metagame with its creators! The ultimate cure for awkward silences, the game sparks conversation about everything from high art to trashy entertainment and everything in between.

7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Opening Party: Listen, Play, Explore w/ DK
Experience the interactive music of composer/designer David Kanaga. This party features interactive playable audio experiences arrayed around the Museum café, where attendees can create costumes, play simple party games, or choose to explore the audio worlds around them.
