Dir. Hayao Miyazaki. 2005, 119 mins. DCP. Dubbed in English. Featuring the voices of Christian Bale, Jean Simmons, Emily Mortimer, Lauren Bacall. Loosely based on Diana Wynn Jones’s novel, Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki created a world filled with witches and curses where a young woman, Sophie, is turned into an old woman by a curse and a castle has legs! Sophie meets Howl, a wizard who is also cursed, and his castle filled with an odd assortment of friends that become family. Together they must try to undo their curses and find self-acceptance. Recommended for ages 8+.
The screening of Howl's Moving Castle on Thursday, December 27, 1:00 p.m. will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.Tickets: $15 ($11 seniors and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / free for children under 3 and Museum members at the Film Lover and Kids Premium levels and above).
