Dir. Bruce W. Smith. 2005, 91 mins. Digital projection. With voice performances by Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker. Based on the animated TV series of the same name, The Proud Family Movie features a teen girl, Penny, at the height of her rebellious phase, and her parents who are unwilling to just go along with her whims. On the eve of her 16th birthday, all Penny wants is to celebrate with her friends and dance in the upcoming hip-hop halftime show starring red-hot rapper 15 Cents. However, her well-meaning father Oscar has other plans: He has just booked the family for a tropical vacation on Legume Island! Penny could not be more perturbed about the sudden change of plans.
Please note, this screening will be sensory friendly with the lights left on, but dimmed, and volume lower.
