I Am Big Bird
Dirs. Dave LaMattina, Chad N. Walker. 2014, 87 mins. DCP. With Caroll Spinney, Frank Oz, Jim Henson. For nearly 50 years, Caroll Spinney was beloved by generations of children as the man behind Sesame Street's Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. A thoughtful portrait of the legendary performer, made when he was still donning the yellow suit well into his 80s, I Am Big Bird features extraordinary footage of Spinney's earliest collaborations with Jim Henson as it traces his journey from bullied child to childhood icon.
