A24 presents Lee Isaac Chung's masterful Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner—now nominated for 6 Academy Awards, including Best Picture!
Part of a series of free screenings made possible thanks to generous support from Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr.!
Dir. Lee Isaac Chung. U.S., 2020, 115 mins. With Steven Yeun, Yeri Han, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Yuh-Jung Youn. A tender and sweeping story about what roots us, Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, Minari shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.
Minari is nominated for six awards at the upcoming 93rd Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director (Lee Isaac Chung), Best Actor (Steven Yeun), Best Supporting Actress (Yuh-Jung Youn — who just took home the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role), Best Original Screenplay (Lee Isaac Chung), and Best Original Score (Emile Mosseri)!
